Build confidence in your science skills under the mentorship of scientists

Designed to inspire the next generation of researchers and engineers, The UW Girls in Science program connects middle and high school students with womxn scientists, Indigenous Knowledge Holders, and real UW lab experiences. GIS exists to help address inequities in STEM fields by building student confidence, interest, skills, and knowledge through exposure to a variety of scientific fields and the mentorship of leaders from the Burke Museum, University Washington, and Puget Sound Community. 

GIS seeks to create a culture of belonging and respect inclusive of transgender women, gender non-binary peoples, cisgender women and other self identifying femme individuals. We privilege students belonging to groups historically underrepresented in STEM (Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color).
