High School Girls in Science
Be a part of groundbreaking research happening at the Burke!
Designed for students in grades 9–12, the Burke’s High School Girls in Science Program helps you gain confidence and hands-on experience through work with distinguished UW mentors.
Over six meetings, we will take an in-depth look into a Burke collection through behind the scenes tours, studies of anatomical features, morphological comparisons, and scientific illustration, followed by a science-fair style celebration of our work. Sessions for the 2021/2022 school year will focus on paleobotany and ichthyology.
Priority goes to applicants seeking to develop self-confidence in their STEM skills, and students with limited access to STEM role models and/or science resources.
