Celebrate the 12th anniversary of National Fossil Day with the Burke’s Fossil Costume Contest!
How to play:
- Find your inspiration when you visit the Burke, on the Burke paleontology database, or take a look at the National Park Service National Fossil Day site.
- Your costume can depict a living version or fossilized form of an ancient plant or animal.
- Include the following info with each entry:
What's your fossil? Include the name of the fossil you chose.
Share what you learned! Feature a fact about the fossil that you learned during your research.
Show off your creation! Tag your photos @burkemuseum and #BurkeFossilFashion so we can see your entry!
Bonus: Wear your costume to the museum to get $4 off the price of admission!
Contest runs October 2–31, 2021. Multiple entries are encouraged, but only one prize will be awarded per person/group. Winners will be announced November 6, 2021. Prizes can be picked up at the museum November 6–30, or will be mailed (if applicable).

This is a friendly reminder that Halloween is around the corner and costumes and attire should be respectful. Learn more about non-appropriative wear on the recent Indigenous Peoples' Day blog post.
